Zoom Crosses 300 Million Users, Announces Zoom 5.0 with 256-bit AES Encryption

The video conference app, Zoom, has grown to thunder almost suddenly as the world enters a door-closing mode due to the Coronavirus epidemic. The company, which usually does not disclose user numbers, has stated that it has gone from serving 10 million users to more than 200 million in just a few months.

Today, Zoom has surpassed another milestone, surpassing 300 million users in its service. Company manager Eric S. Yuan provided the number at the webinar, and he shed some light on the details of Zoom 5.0 and what was new in the update.

First, and most importantly, Zoom 5.0 will upgrade its encryption standards into AES 256-bit GCM encryption to further protect video streams. According to the Zoom blog, enhanced encryption will be available on Zoom Meeting, Zoom Video Webinar, and Zoom Phone data.

With version 5.0, Zoom also adds a security icon to the stream that will give the host easy access to widely used security features including the ability to turn off screen sharing or chat. This service also enables automatic waiting rooms for users with Zoom education, basic licenses, and one specialist, and adds the ability of the waiters to enable waiting rooms while the meeting is in progress.

Zoom 5.0 is scheduled for release this week, but some of the features that come with the service are starting to come out. You can update Zoom by going to this link, or by updating within the app.
